Oxygen Cylinders

Oxygen for outpatients:

All medical practitioners are being informed that the dispensing service of domiciliary oxygen is now provided from Multigas Ltd. Kirkop.

The hours of service of Multigas Ltd are as follows:
    Monday – Friday:                 07:30 hours – 12:30 hours
                                                 14:00 hours – 19:00 hours
    Saturday:                             07:30 hours – 15:30 hours
    Sundays & Public Hols:        08:00 hours – 12:00 hours

Patients requiring oxygen for the first time are to be referred to Pharmacy, Mater Dei Hospital to register for the free service. Patients should be advised to take with them the I.D. card and prescription form and a deposit of €93.17. Upon registration at the pharmacy, patients will be directed to Multigas Ltd. for collection of the oxygen cylinder.

Although an emergency service will be provided from Pharmacy at Mater Dei Hospital in evenings and weekends beyond the above hours, medical practitioners are to refrain from referring patients unless absolutely necessary. The MDH Pharmacy reserves the right to refuse dispensing of oxygen in case of abuse of this service.

One oxygen cylinder has a capacity of 1500L (at a rate of 5 Litres per minute, this translates to app. 5 hours). Patients on continuous / intermittent use of oxygen who require more than one oxygen cylinder within 72 hours may be entitled for a second cylinder on loan.
